AKA: Cardamom, Bastard Cardamom, Alpinia Cardamomum, Cardamon Seeds

ORIGIN: India

CIRCA: As early as 400 B.C.

TYPE OF PLANT: Herbaceous Perennial Plant - Ginger Family

ABOUT: For centuries as a spice, Cardamon is native to South India and Sri Lanka, and is also grown in Southeastern Asia and Guatemala. Cardamon is commonly used in a variety of cuisines. Currently believed to be useful in the treatment of stomach problems, Cardamon seems to improve the flow of bile out of the Gallbladder, thereby preventing Viruses from multiplying. Herbalists also find Cardamon useful against Asthma, Hemorrhoids, and bad breath, as well as beneficial in strengthening the body.
